New Mexico’s 2nd district

Gabe Vasquez gets things done for New Mexico

Gabe is a first-generation American who grew up in the borderlands and saw his mother work hard every day to support his family. She showed him the value of hard work and the struggle that it takes to achieve the American Dream. He has been a tireless advocate for New Mexico's working families. He has focused on expanding healthcare access, improving education, and promoting economic development. Vasquez's efforts to address food insecurity and support for renewable energy initiatives highlight his dedication to creating a sustainable and prosperous future for all New Mexicans. His collaborative approach and commitment to addressing the specific needs of his district make him an essential leader we must reelect to keep New Mexico moving forward.

our plan to win

Talking to our neighbors about what’s at stake

Our Neighbor2Neighbor (N2N) relational canvassing tool is central to our 2024 strategy for NM-02. This innovative approach pairs volunteers with voters in their neighborhoods, fostering personal and impactful interactions. By leveraging familiar faces and trusted voices, we effectively communicate the importance of this election. This method is proven to be twice as effective as traditional GOTV canvassing, and we are confident it will boost voter turnout in New Mexico.

framing the stakes of the election locally

National messages need local resonance. We work closely with Indivisible groups in NM-02 to craft a strong, localized narrative. Through op-eds, letters to the editor, and high-visibility media events, we'll highlight the dangers of MAGA extremism and the importance of voting for democracy and reproductive rights. Our goal is to generate sustained local media coverage that keeps these issues at the forefront for voters.

focusing on winning issues

Our campaign in NM-02 emphasizes issues where we hold a competitive edge: democracy and reproductive rights. We know these topics resonate deeply with voters, especially those at risk of staying home or undecided. By clearly communicating how these issues affect daily lives and the future of our country, we aim to mobilize and motivate our base, ensuring they turn out to vote.

building a robust volunteer base

A successful campaign relies on a dedicated and well-trained volunteer base. We are committed to recruiting New Mexicans to join their local groups and equipping individual volunteers with the skills and tools they need to engage voters effectively. This includes comprehensive training sessions, ongoing support from our national team, and resources that locals need to win in November.

coordinating national efforts

Our work in NM-02 is part of Indivisible’s broader national strategy to build a Democratic trifecta. We coordinate closely with national and state-level campaigns to ensure our efforts are aligned and resources are optimized. Participating in nationwide events, like the mobilization on the anniversary of the Dobbs decision, helps maintain momentum and voter engagement, reinforcing our local efforts with national support.

plugging in out-of-state volunteers to amplify local efforts

Recognizing the power of collective action, we will tap into the enthusiasm and resources of out-of-state volunteers to recruit volunteers and talk directly to voters. These supporters bolster our efforts through remote activities such as phone banking, texting, and postcarding. By integrating their efforts with our local strategy, we significantly expand our reach and impact, ensuring every target potential voter in NM-02 is contacted and mobilized.
